In a week the adventure begins...

I have been blessed with opportunities to travel.  I travel solo for the most part, so my favorite way to travel right now is cruising.

Next week I start a new adventure.  I'm flying to Miami, Florida. There I will be boarding the Norwegian Getaway.  (one of the larger of the NCL fleet) A transatlantic cruise to Copenhagen, Denmark.  Along the way we'll stop at The Azores (islands that are part of Portugal), Brest, France; Southampton, England; Brussels, Belgium; Rotterdam, the Netherlands; and Copenhagen... Then we'll continue on into the Baltic Sea, stopping in Berlin (Warnermunde)Germany; Tallinn, Estonia; St Petersburg, Russia; HelsinkiFinland and Stockholm, Sweden, then returning to Copenhagen.  From there I'll fly to Paris, France for 3 days before coming home.

NCL has made solo traveling so much more affordable than most cruise lines. Thank goodness! It's really hard to pay for two people.  One because of the cost, and two, just on general principle it seems so wrong! On the larger Norwegian ships there are studio rooms.  This makes it more affordable and also a draw to other solo travelers (yeah!) Here are some pics of the studio cabin.
It has a full size bed. There's a faux porthole, with blinds to give ambient light. The room is compact but livable. There's a community lounge that is a great, quite place to relax (awesome coffee machine too!) Also to meet up with other solo travelers. Every evening there's a meet & greet. There's a private bartender during this time as well.

During the previous months I've had a great opportunity to meet many future travel companions through the Facebook page and Cruise Critic community board for our cruise. (there are roll calls set up for all cruises, you just pick the one you are traveling on) So, not only am I going to see many new parts of the world, I'm going to cruise with many new friends.  What a blessing!

The next few posts will be of my adventures during this amazing cruise.  So stay tuned!

until we meet again....
